Speaking of new posts…

During some upgrading and new theme work, I unsubscribed everyone from receiving notice of new topics posted.
If you want to receive notice of a new topic, you’ll need to re-subscribe.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

How to be a great conversationalist

I’m often told in social and business situations what a great conversationalist I am.
As most of you know, I don’t write much. I’m a man of few words. I have a tendency to write and say only as much as is needed.
Still I am often left with remarks that exclaim how great I am to [...]

Preparing for Extreme Cold

If you must drive, be prepared. Carry a winter survival kit in your trunk.
Tire chains (practice installing before you get into the snow)
Small snow shovel
Extra clothing (including hat)
Work gloves
Blanket
Traction mats (floor mats will work)
Ice scraper (plastic, not metal)
Booster cables (good ones)
Small bag of abrasive materials for traction (sand, [...]

You can follow the progress or join in it at FU’s GlobalWarming Awareness2007 forum.
I’m excited to have this opportunity to learn more about SEO and globalwarming.
Let’s see how this goes.

The new girl in my life.

Yup. It happened. I have a new girl I see five days a week.
Ya’ll know I have this thing for Martha. Well, Rachael sucked me in because of my attraction to Martha. :s
The morning news gets over at 10 am here and Martha doesn’t come on ’til 11. When they added Rachael to the line [...]

Hosting Terms of Service

This is something I built some time ago and allow anyone to use. I’m reprinting it here for greater distribution. A free hosting terms of service that’s easily editable to reflect your site. As always, please consult a professional to be sure it meets your local standards. With that, here’s the TOS (the formatted version [...]

The December Post

December’s almost over, and I haven’t blogged.
Christmas was weird in Michigan with no snow. I don’t recall ever seeing (or not seeing) that before. :s
I’d generally be spending this time of year complaining about shoveling snow and how bits of it seem to find their way into my sneakers just before I step back [...]

Never give up. Never surrender.

I relapsed and started smoking again.
But I’ve set a new quit date and feel really good about it. I’m more focussed and determined to quit.
I’ve looked at where I went wrong. And I’m confident I can come up with a better plan this time.
I must admit, Become An Ex has helped me re-tune. [...]

My favorite WP plugins

One thing I like about WordPress is the wide range of plugins available. I’m going to list a few I like here.
I’ll update this post as I think of it.
If I listed in no particular order, Spam Karma would still be at the top of the list. It is very effective at keeping your [...]

Snowing again. :S

It’s purty. But it’s messy.
I don’t mind it, if I don’t have to be out in it.
Just a little preview of months to come.
Maybe I need to invest in a heated walk so I won’t hafta shovel the crap.

When members attack.

Sure. This is about a member ( or members) that consistently bash WHT. So what?
So what?!?
Well, so why would you continue to engage with a community you propose to dispise?
Could it be, it’s not really that bad?
Could it be, you enjoy bickering and bitching about something?
Could it be, you only feel better about yourself when [...]

When people are asked for the longest word they know . . .

is what dictionary.com gave as an example of using the word antidisestablishmentarianism.
Antidisestablishmentarianism was first coined to express the opposition to the disestablishment of the Church of England. And later evolved to mean an opposition to the belief that there should no longer be an official church in any country.
Yeah, I went to dictionary.com to see [...]

More Pink . . .

I’ll be pinkifying my site for October. Get ready for the glare.
Going Pink is a project designed to help bring awareness to breast cancer during the month of October.
So, what are you waiting for? Get pink!

Where did the sleep go?

I didn’t sleep much last night.
Surely it can’t be that I’m a wee bit excited that the girl arrives here today.
Well, it might be.
I’ve been many places. And I’ve done many things. It’s difficult to imagine my life just beginning, but it is.
That is likely my apprehension.
I look forward to spending my life [...]

9-11 – Five years later

It’s been five years since the infamous attack on freedom, September 11, 2001.
I had reprinted Leonard Pitt’s reaction to that day here as he had written two days after.
I have a stirring tribute to the heroes and fallen at www.FreedomRings.us. A direct link to the tribute is here. Be forewarned, it is a large file [...]
